SAN ANTONIO RANKED AMONG COUNTRY’S TOP 10 HAPPIEST CITY FOR JOBS

As the agency of record for the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation (SAEDF), Creative Civilization is happy to share this piece of news, which puts San Antonio on the map as one of the happiest cities in the country to work.

The city of San Antonio was ranked the ninth Happiest City for Jobs in a recent list put out by Forbes.com. The list, developed by CareerBliss, was based on 10 factors that impact workplace happiness, including employee and boss relationships, opportunities for growth, compensation, resources, company culture and reputation, among others. The list reflects a compilation of more than 43,000 independent employee reviews.

With a vast range of industries, such as healthcare and biosciences, aerospace, tourism, support of the military, international trade, manufacturing, to name a few, San Antonians have many choices of job opportunities that meet their personal and professional interests.

One of the city’s largest employers, USAA, a financial services company for the military community, was recently ranked no. 20 on Fortune’s 2012 list of 100 Best Companies to Work For, and for two consecutive years, ComputerWorld has named the company “The Best Place to Work in IT” in America.

“San Antonio has always been our home. Some of the very best employees can be found in this city, and we believe that if we take good care of our employees, they will continue to take good care of the military families we serve,” says USAA CEO Joe Robles. “We are deliberate in making our work environment safe, fun, and a place in which our employees enjoy coming to work, every day.”

In addition to a dynamic workforce, corporations like USAA have discovered the benefits of doing business in San Antonio, including energy availability and costs, highway accessibility and cost of living. According to the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation (SAEDF), new business investments in San Antonio resulted in 4,917 direct new jobs in 2011 and the organization predicts the same level in 2012.

“It is positive news for the business community in San Antonio when its workforce is acknowledged on a national scale,” says Mario Hernandez, president of the SAEDF. “The business leaders in San Antonio are both professional and progressive, and the city works hard to make an atmosphere that is conducive to business growth and productivity.”
